R&D Engineer – Ultrafast Laser Microfabrication & Photonic Packaging
Location: Madrid, Spain
Expected starting date: October 2026
Expected starting date: October 2026
On-site
Join us in developing one of the most promising manufacturing technologies for the future of photonics and semiconductor packaging.
LASING Microsystems is looking for a highly motivated engineer or physicist to join our R&D team and lead the development of Selective Laser-Induced Etching (SLE), an emerging ultrafast laser technology capable of creating complex three-dimensional microstructures inside glass with accuracy down to the micron.
This technology is opening new opportunities in integrated photonics, photonic packaging, quantum technologies, semiconductor manufacturing, micro-optics and microfluidics, and is expected to play an increasingly important role in the next generation of optical and electronic devices. The project focuses on bringing this technology from cutting-edge research into robust industrial manufacturing solutions.
The selected candidate will join LASING’s R&D team and will also have the opportunity to pursue a fully funded Industrial PhD in collaboration with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM).
